Today I went to the world’s best farmer’s market – Shady Maple. The produce is locally grown and the baked goods are made by a combination of Amish and Mennonite women and all of it is absolutely AMAZING! Shady Maple also has a

great deli counter that include some central Pennsylvania classics such as pretzel salad, chicken pot pie and chow chow. All homemade of course!

I ended up with lots of baked goods – whoopies, shoofly pie cookies and a couple different types of bread. I will have to exercise a bit more in the next few weeks to account for all this goodness.

I also went to the Beer Distributor…for soda. I know, I know. Ever since I was a little girl whenever I visited my Grandparent’s in Hershey our after dinner drink was a can of Moxie. I think this stuff is delicious, but most people I’ve fed it to over the years think it tastes like cough syrup. Either way I have two cases of the stuff now. I wish I could get it in my local grocery store, but it’s a disappearing beverage.

Does anyone else have something, food item or otherwise, that you go to extremes to procure?
